We offer a traditional, four year optometry program. Classes begin each year in August. View our curriculum

Is a bachelor’s degree required for admission?
Will NSUOCO accept AP courses?
Yes. The courses must be listed on your undergraduate transcript and tracked on your OptomCAS application.
Do all pre-req courses need to be completed before I apply?
No. It is not required that you have all your pre-reqs completed by the time you apply. If accepted, you must complete all pre-reqs before you start the program in August with a grade of “C” or better from an accredited institution.
How many hours are required of shadowing an optometrist?
We recommend over 30+ hours. When you apply to the program, we recommend having at least one letter of recommendation be from an optometrist.
I’m not certain if one of my courses will count towards your pre-req classes. How can I check to make sure it’s the right class?
How long does it take to review a file?
Once a file is complete and verified on OptomCAS AND the $45 supplemental application fee is received, it will take around two weeks to review the file. Admission is competitive. Not all students will be invited for an on-campus interview. Students must have a high OAT, good grades from their undergraduate studies, and optometry shadowing or working experience. We will review all applications through our deadline on Feb. 1st.
I just had my interview. When will I hear back from NSUOCO?
Most applicants will hear back about their application after our deadline on Feb. 1st. If you were recommended for early admission into our program, it could be as early as two weeks.
I just submitted my OptomCAS application. Where can I find your supplemental application?
We do not have any additional paperwork that is required for the supplemental application. We only require the fee payment of $45. An email with instructions on how to pay the fee online will be sent to each student who submitted an application.
How can I get in-state tuition?

At this time, the NSUOCO only accepts residents of the United States.
