Cataract Evaluation Clinic

The cataract evaluation clinic is supervised by an Optometrist affiliated with an ophthalmologist providing cataract surgery locally. This clinic is located within the Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Center and provides cataract evaluations to patients who have been referred from our various Cherokee Nation Clinics who have met the tribe’s visual qualifications for cataract surgery coverage. They verify qualification and appropriateness of cataract surgery, acquire preoperative measurements, obtain patient surgical informed consent and provide pre and post-operative prescriptions and instructions. Students from Years III and IV are eligible for assignment into this service.
