Annually, students, residents, and faculty experience more than 40,000 patient encounters.

Optical Dispensaries

Each of the NSUOCO optical dispensaries provide complete services for ordering, verifying, dispensing, adjusting, and repairing spectacles. There is an optical dispensary in each of the clinics at NSUOCO, NSU Broken Arrow and all of the Cherokee Nation Clinics. Students from Years II, III, and IV of the clinical curriculum are eligible for assignment into Dispensary at either NSU or the Pheiffer (CNOHC) clinic.

Spectacle Fabrication assignment chart

Spectacle Fabrication Laboratory

The spectacle fabrication laboratory is located within NSUOCO and provides services of manufacturing and ordering spectacles for the various clinics within the NSU clinical system. Includes student participation in repairing spectacles, tinting lenses, edging lenses and ordering from other laboratories or distributors. It is intended to expose the student to the process of an in-house spectacle laboratory. Students from Years III and IV are eligible for assignment into this service.
