The Oklahoma Optometric Student Association’s (OOSA) purpose is to develop and promote student involvement in continuing education and the political environment surrounding Oklahoma optometry. The OOSA works hard to foster a relationship with the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP). OOSA students support optometry politically with capitol visits, communication with state and national leaders and by attending continuing education meetings throughout the state and the nation. OOSA further supports the student’s involvement through education and travel grants.

The Executive Council serves as the executive body of the OOSA. The Executive Council leaders work hard to distribute information to all of NSUOCO students so the student body can work with our Oklahoma optometrists to promote and maintain Oklahoma's scope of practice. The Executive Council works with the Administration of the college. The Executive Council is represented at many OAOP, American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry meetings and serves as the link between our Oklahoma Optometric physicians and our NSUOCO student body. These leaders are essential to the student understanding and involvement in the political landscape surrounding optometry.
