Doctor of Optometry

The Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree is based on the NSU Tahlequah campus. The program is four years of intensive doctoral-level training that prepares students to become effective members of a comprehensive health care team. The Optometric Physician has been trained to diagnose and treat a wide variety of eye and vision problems at the primary care level.

NSU Mandatory Fees include: Facility fee, student activity fee, infrastructure fee, cultural/scholastic lecturer fee, student ID fee, technology services fee, and remedial course fee if applicable. NSU courses taught at off-campus locations or online may have additional fees assessed. NSU Mandatory Fees are assessed at $37.15 per credit hour enrolled. 1 Students accepting positions in the entering class must submit a $1000 acceptance deposit along with the letter of intent to enroll. The deposit will be applied toward the tuition owed for the first enrollment period.

Students are required to have their own Ophthalmoscope, Trial Lens Kit, Diagnostic Kit, Tool Kit, and Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope with Teaching Mirror.
