 Ocular Aesthetics Course Dec. 12-13, 2025

This certification course will present the educational and technical skills necessary to perform ocular aesthetics procedures in a primary eyecare setting. The wide array of topics will include a review of facial and ocular anatomy, botulinum toxin, radio frequency, intense pulsed light therapy, microneedling, ablative and non-ablative resurfacing lasers.  Indications, contraindications, alternative interventions, risk/benefit trade off and possible complications will be discussed in detail for each of the procedures, along with patient education and patient discussion of the procedures.  In addition to the hands-on workshop, there will also be extensive video grand rounds displaying real procedures performed by optometrists.

This 16-hour COPE accredited certification course, led by Dr. Selina McGee, will include 8 hours of lecture and 8 hours of hands-on laboratory components with actual live patients.   Topics will include:

    • Botulinum toxin
    • Radiofrequency (RF) use in ocular aesthetics
    • Intense pulsed light (IPL) use in ocular aesthetics
    • Microneedling
    • Ablative and non-ablative re-surfacing lasers

Didactic lectures and hands-on workshops will occur for each of the above topics. 

Upon completion, attendees will receive certification in: Ocular Aesthetics for the Optometric Physician.

  • By Plane
    It is easiest to fly into Tulsa, OK. It is about an hour's drive from Tulsa to Tahlequah.
    NOTE: There is no public transportation from the airport to Tahlequah, nor is there any available in the city. You will need to rent a car to get to Tahlequah and for travel in the city.
  • By Car
    OK-51 through Broken Arrow is the recommended route. This route does have tolls, but now operates with PlatePay. If you do not have a PikePass, the registered owner of the vehicle will be mailed an invoice afterward and can expect to pay $6 or less round-trip.
